‘The repairs to the Strand Street pedestrian bridge aim to restore the condition of the structural steel pedestrian bridge to a safe working state and will allow for safe pedestrian passage across Strand Street in the medium to long term. The pedestrian bridge will remain accessible to the public and in use throughout the repair works, just to a lower capacity, until repairs are completed. The repair work is needed to prolong the longevity of the City’s infrastructure and to keep Cape Town moving over roads as well,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
